Trainers' Edge
Date/Time:
Location:

The Trainer’s EDGE course is designed to provide and help develop the platform skills of a trainer, youth and adult, emphasizing the EDGE method of training. Following The Fundamentals of Training, it is the second in the series of the national Train-the-Trainer Continuum. While meant to supplement the practice offered through Wood Badge and the NYLT staff development, trainers at all levels should take this course. We focus on the participant while raising the level of skill of the trainer. Trainer’s EDGE is required training for Wood Badge and NYLT staff.
Course content includes:
- The Trainer’s EDGE model
- Communicating
- Training Preparation – Logistics – Media – Methods
- Participant Topic Presentations*
*Your top presentations are with your table (4-6 people) as the audience and feedback group. Each participant will give a 10-12 minute presentation on a topic of his/her choosing from the Boy Scout Handbook or other program element like Cub Scouting or Venturing. You may use any media you choose except PowerPoint. The presentation may be a specific skills session that uses EDGE, but the broader skills of the trainer should also be demonstrated. A broad topic choice, such as uniform, advancement, high adventure, hiking or camping could be selected. Your presentation should be complete and ready to present when you arrive Saturday morning.
