Pinewood Derby

Gulf Stream Council Pinewood Derby

Start Your Engines!

Pinewood Derby is one of the most exciting traditions in Cub Scouting! Scouts design, build, and race their own wooden cars while learning creativity, craftsmanship, and sportsmanship.

How the Pinewood Derby Works

Pack Pinewood Derby

Every Cub Scout Pack hosts their own Pinewood Derby between January and March. Scouts build their cars with family or leaders and race against fellow Scouts in their pack.

District Pinewood Derby

The excitement continues at the District level! The Top 3 racers from each Den (Lions, Tigers, Wolves, Bears, and Webelos) advance to compete in their District Pinewood Derby.

Council Pinewood Derby

The fastest racers from each District move on to the Gulf Stream Council Pinewood Derby, where the top Cub Scout cars compete to see who is the fastest in the council!

Who Advances?

The Top 3 racers from each Den level at the District Pinewood Derby advance to the Council Pinewood Derby. District Pinewood Derby Chairs will submit the names of advancing Scouts to the Council Pinewood Derby team for registration.

Design it. Build it. Race it. Good luck and have fun!
