SEBASTIAN HISTORIC TRAIL
Sea Scout Ship 5501 is proud to host the 11th Annual Sebastian Historical Trail Camp and Hike on Friday and Saturday, May 26 and 27, 2023.
This year, free camping will be at the VFW Post 10210, 815 Louisiana Ave, Sebastian, across the street from The American Legion, where we have camped in past years. The Legion is undergoing major construction this year, so that facility will not be available to us.
You may start arriving any time after 5 PM. Because of the smaller camping space, we ask that you not bring huge tents and plan to buddy up in smaller tents.
The only planned program Friday night will be a Flag Retirement at 9 PM (weather permitting) and a Leader's Meeting following. (Unit Leaders and SPLs)
You will be on your own for dinner on Friday night. Breakfast, Saturday morning, will be
$3.00 donation at the VFW, or you may make your own. The VFW will provide a free light lunch at the end of the trail.
The hike Saturday morning will be about 5 ½ to 6 miles in urban areas. Bring a compass, drinking water and 2 safety vests for hiking off sidewalks. This hike is not suitable for Cubs. Cub Leaders, OK.
The Community Service will once again be placing flags at the Sebastian Cemetery (in conjunction with Memorial Day) after the hike.
Two hike patches will be available after the hike. $3.00 each. Purchase is optional. Contact information - Wayne Newland, 772-388-6677 or waynewland@reagan.com Please let us know that you are coming and how many will be in attendance.
