Cub Scout Leader Training

To be qualified to receive and wear the "Trained" strip as a Cub Scout Leader you must participate in Cub Scout Fast Start Training, This is Scouting, Cub Scout Leader Specific, and Youth Protection Training.

BSA logo Fast Start Training: The initial training for all leaders in all programs. It is a quick job description with basic tips to manage until training is available. This training is available online at www.myscouting.org.

BSA logoThis is Scouting: Designed for all volunteers and provides the basics of the Scouting programs, the age appropriateness of those programs, and our values and methods. This training is usually delivered by the district training committee and takes approximately 1/2 hour to complete. This training can be found online at www.myscouting.org .

BSA logo Cub Scout Leader Specific Training: Leader specific includes five different breakout sessions related to Cub Scouting for Tiger, Wolf, Bear and Webelos Den Leaders and Assistants, Pack Committee Chairs, Committee Members, and Cubmasters and Assistants. This training takes approximately 3 hours to complete. Offered at the District level. Event listing here.

BSA logo Youth Protection Training: This training increases awareness in youth protection issues, reviews all of the BSA youth protection policies and is required for all of the Leader training awards. Youth Protection Training is required for all registered leaders participating in any nationally conducted event or activity and is recommended for anyone working directly with the youth. Youth Protection training is available online at www.myscouting.org .

BSA logo Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (B. A. L. O. O.): Techniques for planning a safe camping experience for Cub Scouts. One full day of training. Offered at the District or Council level. Event listing here.

BSA logo Outdoor Leader Skills for Webelos Leaders: Essential outdoor skills for Webelos Leaders to share with their Webelos. May be held in conjunction with Boy Scout Leader Introduction to Outdoor Leadership Skills. Weekend or one day depending.  Event listing here.

BSA logo Hazardous Wearther Training: Essential outdoor skills for all leaders in order to safely take your unit camping outdoors. One attending adult must hold this training certification in order for the unit to be issued a Tour Permit.

BSA logo Cub Scout Leader Roundtable: Monthly program with the purpose of giving leaders the skills and ideas they need to deliver an exciting Cub Scout Program to the boys. Offered at the District level.

BSA logo Wood Badge: Weeklong or multiple weekend training course designed to provide adults with advanced leadership skills and a more dedicated involvement in Scouting. Offered at the Council level. For more Information

BSA logo Safe Swim Defense/Safety Afloat Training: This training is required for your unit to participate in ANY aquatic activity.
